Great Achievement

Later part this afternoon after school, I went to church to light candles and to thank GOD for such great news I've received a few days ago. I still couldn't believe my eyes when I received a text message from our School Administrator gleefully extending her Congratulations for the release of my Accreditation [as of July03, 2009] as Competency Assessor for Health Care Services NC II. Until now, that message is still in my inbox. The origin of the text message was from TESDA-Davao City.

I was having my class when I received the message [ahm, excuse me my cellphone was in silent mode ;-) hehe]. With the joy and excitement, I shared the good news to my students and they were very happy for me. I forwarded the text to my sister and Papa. The two very important people in my life. They were proud of me. Papa replied through text "this calls for a celebration". Promise pa, when you get home.

Wow, such great achievement. I worked hard for this. Thank you, LORD! My effort was not put into waste. It's a blessing..an answered prayer. It was meant for me. I still do pray for the greatest achievement I am wishing for. People close to me knew what I am talking about. I know GOD will sprinkle that blessing to me, in HIS perfect time.

Goodnight, everyone! (,")

competent!

First batch were ready at 8am..the earlier, the better ikanga. The Assessment venue was ready. They have prepared an array of equipments which we will utilize during the Demonstration. Nerve-wracking, yes, especially for those first-timers. This is my 2nd Competency Assessment, the first one was in Health Care Services NC 2 and hopefully, this one, in FBS [Food and Beverage Services] NC 2.

Most of us were holding on their notes, murmuring, some opts their quiet time under the mango and santol tree while some gathered themselves as a group sharing thoughts and ideas.

When the Assessor arrived, Representative from TESDA and School personnel followed. Then, started the introduction, orientation and began filling up some paperworks.

Pass 11am, half of the group took the written exam, including myself and the other half started demonstrating. It was around this time that I noticed something is hanging on my foot only to find out that my shoes' sole is beginning to separate from its heels. Ewww..embarassing, looked for something that could paste on it but to no avail. Nobody could actually help me. Gosh, I still haven't performed and my shoes bothers me. Its a good thing I brought a pair of sandals so I changed my footwear for the meantime.

12:06nn..Lunch time, I went along with Aileen and some of my classmates to have lunch at Mang Inasal, which just opened few days ago. While waiting, I bought a Super Glue at CWC. There, worry no more. I just had to fix it at school.

Before our names were called, my shoes were on its stable condition (or so i thought). I was confident demonstrating when in the middle of the scenario, I heard a terrible sound somewhere. Shaks, my shoes is at it again. Imagine you were like wearing a wooden shoes. I wanna laugh and scream 'cause of undue embarassment but I manage my composure, I manage to walk slowly. Darn! My partner was keeping herself from bursting with laughter. Me, too.

Right after the assessment, we took pictures as remembrance while waiting for the release of our allowance. And then, Aiza Mae, Jeanalyn, Kring2x, Mavic, Jeanebel had a tummy-filling meal at Chicken Ati-Atihan. Waiting for our meals to be served, Junar, Knowles, Herwin and some friends joined us. We were the coolest group. Our table was filled with so much fun and laughter. I will be missing these faces, my new group of friends, my endearing classmates.

Meet up with Chem before going home. Related to her what we've been through. It will be their turn tomorrow. Break a leg, chem!

Got home around 10:35pm, tired and exhausted but I won't let this day pass without having to post what we have accomplished today so I turned on my PC, still on its malfunctioning color of the monitor. My friends suggested to have this replaced. Maybe, soon. As the budget calls for it.

Thank God for this day. I could now sleep well. Goodnight, everyone! ?:-)

I made it!

Finally, the Assessment day has come.  Venue is at KORPHIL, Tibungco, Davao City. Planned to leave early but was able to ride a bus at 7:25am. Bus left the terminal 8:05am already. Oh boy, I'd be in Davao in 1 hour time.  Had to travel a long way to Tibungco after that, yes for another bus ride.

Anyways, when I get there at 10am, some of my co-participants were being interviewed already. Gosh, nerve-wracking part 2 [Read my April 15 post on long yet productive day]. Thank God, I'm already done with my TM assessment and the result was good.

After Ma'am Annie, I was next..right after lunch time so that would be 1pm. Oh boy, my butterflies in the stomach started rambling. "I can do this. I will make it.", I told myself.  While waiting, I observed participants who look anxious than me.  I was calm, a bit hungry but calm. I never had lunch.

After a few hours of assessment/interview, I made it!! It felt sooo good when the Assessor informed me of the result, that I was competent.  It did boost my confidence, lifted up my spirit. Wow! Having me signed the documents and get hold of the C.A.R.S. completes my day. I'll go home with a smile on my face.

Excited to spread the good news, texted my family and some of my friends the result.  They were all happy for me.  Still yet to inform Auntie Nel and Manong Louie of this good news. They'll know the moment I go online.

I would definitely have a good night sleep tonight. Till my next post. Goodnight!!

back at GENSAN City

My friend Chem was supposed to go with me at GenSan this morning to file for Certification of our NC II (National Certificate II). But something came up, so I had to travel alone.  I spent almost an hour before I get to ride a bus. My friend Vanessa jested through text, that patience is a virtue.  So there, at 9:40am rode an airconditioned bus. Why aircon when there's a deluxe? What difference does it make? I'm more comfortable with the former than the latter. Besides, its only P10-15 difference and I easily get sweaty. Its all in the genes.

Everything VIOLET
I so love VIOLET.  It started last year when I was looking for a gift  for my sister [Papa asked me to buy one for her manita since I know what she wished for]. Anyways, one bag from all hanging ladies' bags caught my attention. Not actually expensive, but for me, its look was chic.

It took me a while to decide whether to buy it or not. The saleslady kept on following me as I go on selecting other designs.  Will she like this one?  What if not? Oh no. These questions were running through my head. But, I've made my decision. I am not going...to...let anyone buy that bag but me, hehehe. So, I ask the lady if they have other stocks than the one displayed and she responded the one I am holding is the last one. "Ohhh..", I replied.  She smiled at me then yours truly headed to the paper bags section.

Is it a Violet day? It started in the Bus Terminal when I saw a Lady in her Violet Shirt.  Saw another one in her Violet flip-flops. Then the girl's cellphone case  in the Eload-ing station is Violet. I actually have Violet nail polish with white tip.  I brought my Violet bag with some of my Violet stuffs including a Violet ballpen.

When I set foot at Gaisano Mall in GenSan, around 11:25am, I've seen a lot of people wearing Violet. Whenever I look, people are wearing Violet. Shirts, pants, headbands, eyeshadows, crystal bracelets, watches, anything. Any accessories. Don't know about their Andy's [no pun intended].

There, I meet up with Van. We had lunch at SPAZIO. Then strolled for a while and finally, went to TESDA Office.  Filing was a swift. TESDA personnel were accomodating, professional in dealing with people.  Looking forward to get hold of my NC II document. Having one is an achievement for me, in my Education, in my profession.  I'll be back next week.

Van and I went to Mix 'n Magic Snacks and Pastries store to buy pasalubong for Chem. Their cakes are satisfying and delectable.  I just didn't like the way one of its staff stares. She's not customer friendly [rolls eyes].

Van had to go back to school and I had to go home, thank her for accompanying me. I strolled at KCC Mall to check out some best buys. Last stop was their Supermarket, as in very wide Supermarket with everything-you-need on it. I almost got lost looking for the Chips section. How I wish there's a Mall in Digos with a very, very wide selection of goods including vegetables and fruits for customer's convenience. A one stop all-in-one shop. How's that?

Ok, my dear friends. I won't stay up too late. Have to wake up early and be early in Davao City tomorrow for the continuation of our Assessment in TM-AM. Wish me luck.

Goodnight!

long yet productive day

"Home", uttered myself when i stepped on the premises of our place.  I missed everybody, my sister, our dogs, people back home.  As if I was away for days though its just quite a while.

Our pets were in their houses already but they saw me entered the gate.

Today is the last day of our 1 week TM-AM Seminar conducted by TESDA. Our Assessment day for the two methodology course, as well. Unfortunately, due to limited Assessors who will supposedly conduct the assessment for the day, only 4 of us were assessed. Three from UM-Matina and me from PITS, each from different trade areas.  Luckily, we all passed. Thank you to Engr. S.C., the person who assessed us.

When asked to describe how did it go, i said "nerve-wracking". My co-participants patiently waited for their turns but since the time runs in a flash, they cut-off the time. The 2 assessors still has to go back to their work, training another batch of participants for the seminar. I'd say their job is very demanding, but as they say they love what they were doing and its their passion: TEACHING. Thumbs up to them. I admire their dedication.

We were told the assessment will continue on the 22nd and 23rd at KORPHIL, somewhere in Tibungco. The group decided that we should all meet up infront of the ADDU. Text brigade na lang. I have learned a lot from these people. Was able to find new acquaintance, as well.

As a photo fanatic, I won't end the day without pictures so our group has remembrance. Ma'am Cheery informed us they would post some videos in YOUTUBE..char! She has brought her Digicam on Day 5. I had all of them signed my manual and was flooded with signatories and contact informations, the future  assessors of TESDA. [chuckles]

Pass 4pm, we all parted ways. Ma'am Anne and I took a tricykad [a bicycle with a side car] hanggang kanto ng Magsaysay, her going to Joji Ilagan and I going to NCCC to meet up with Reina, I shared with her the good news while enjoying our snack.

My day isn't over yet, I received a text from Lalai inviting me over for a dinner but the message was sent by Romy. So, I replied asking where she was and the occassion they were celebrating. Oh, I see it was a welcome back party of Marianne pala, Lalai's younger sister who worked overseas

After buying some home stuffs, we meet up with Ate Shine and Malyn. My friends way back in College. Haven't seen these fellas for a long time. Goodluck sa June NLE!!

On our way to Ecoland Terminal, tawa kami ng tawa sa jeep. Si Malyn kasi eh, salamat ngapala sa libreng pamasahe ha? hehehe.  Gimingaw jud ko sa akong friends ai.

Ate shine, reina and I took an airconditioned Holiday Bus going home.

Diretso na din ako kina Lalai, where dinner is waiting for me. hehehe.  I hold back for a while outside texting Lalai then went inside. So glad to see Romz. Greeted everybody pati na si Marianne.

10pm..Thanks for the dinner, lai! Also, I had a good chat with my long time no see friend Romy, a College buddy. Mouli pa gud ni siya ug Padada taz duty pa siya ug 7am ugma. Ingatz kaayo!!

11pm..after watching CSI: NY, took a half bath.  How refreshing!

There, turned on the PC, waited for the display to occur and began tapping the keyboards again relating my experiences the whole day.

1:30am as i check our wall clock. I just yawned. My body wants to rest na, as my mind follows. My eyes closed a bit, it's bye bye time for the meantime, dear friends.

goodnight!!

husky voice

I woke up this morning with no voice. All you'd hear from me is an on and off voice, more like a defective speaker [chuckles]. I still went to school, met up with my students. They were shocked when I spoke.

8:30am Luckily, TESDA people from Region XI will come to visit our School and conduct the orientation for the TESDA Scholarship Programs at ANNEX, to start in an hour.

I collected assignments from my students and dismissed them early, since this blogger enrolled in a Scholarship Program in Food and Beverage Services NC 2, with Chem and Jopay.

We set-up the whole Funda Lab for ocular inspection by the TESDA Provincial Director.

For the meantime, we stayed inside the Funda Lab. Ma'am Julie of Rudy's Art Photography came by to hand-in the pictures during our 2nd Pinning Ceremony. Gwapa jud ming tanan oi! We will make sure our documentation will be as fabulous as the event, so those people who have little understanding on the significane of the event will realize that 2-year courses does have a ceremony like that of a 4-year Bachelor courses. Thank you, Ma'am Julie!

10am Chem and I hopped in to Gene's car going to ANNEX. When we got there, few enrollees participated in the orientation. Some went home na daw.

Engr. Nestor S. Tabada, Provincial Director - Davao City/Davao del Sur explained the duties and responsibilities as a TESDA Scholar and pointed out some reminders. The orientation didn't last long. After the short speech, we were called to sign the Scholarship Vouchers by Mrs. Panuela, FASD Chief of Finance and Administrative Services Division, Davao del Sur and submitted our photos. That's it! We are now TESDA Scholars! I'm excited..when will be our first day? hehehe

Going back to school this afternoon, I met up with the 2nd year students and taught some tips on their upcoming NC 2 exam despite the hoarseness of my voice. They were mimicking me pa nga eh. I still tried to teach them.

Afterwards, we leaved school going to Warehouse to stroll around and buy some goods.

4:40pm We were done paying at the Counter and I felt my feet started complaining. Yeah, Pucca is tired na..Gikapoy na akong beauty.

SmileyCentral.com

5pm I came home tired, hungry, carrying loads of folders with a bag of some grocery items. Was happy to see our dogs, wagging their tails trying to relieve my tiredness. I just love them so much. I never got to buy salabat [pulverized Philippine version for ginger tea] =( Wala ng stock.

By the way, bought a new mug, nice design! Baptized its use in trying Ji**s Choco 5 in 1 Mix with Agaricus Mushroom Extract Plus Spirulina. I surely include this always on my To-buy list when going to the Grocery. I love the taste, creamy and healthy as well. Can be served hot or cold.

6pm I was watching TV when I suddenly remembered my dues at Herbito's. I changed clothes in a snap and left home. Yes, still in my hoarse voice, umalis pa rin ako. I couldn't ask my sister naman to pay it. Ate ping and company was surprised to hear me. I even headed to the market to buy vegetables and look for salabat. I really had to. Imagine how I deal with the sellers and tricycle driver. =) hahaha..they always give me a second look. hehehe..

When i got home, I immediately tried the salabat I bought. Wow, i felt the soothing effect in my throat. I hope I'd wake up tomorrow, with a normal voice na.

Goodnight, everyone!!

My first time in GenSan

General Santos City.  The "Tuna Capital of the Philippines". Oh, how I wish we could actually explore the place but that was not our main purpose of going there.

Today is our Examination day for the National Assessment for Health Care Services NC II.

7:00am..Chem and I meet up at the Bus Terminal. This friend of mine is not the typical traveller. She hates long travels for it triggers her motion sickness [ya know what i mean]. But then, she was able to get over it when we were in College.

7:30am..Rode a Deluxe Holiday Bus. While waiting, I told Chem there's an unattended bag on the opposite side of our seat, on my right side. She smiled at me, somewhat telling me I'm just freaking paranoid. Maybe the owner went to comfort room, bought something or went somewhere else.

I was just trying to be observant and alert at that time. I was thinking of our safety and security. A lot of "What If's" were running through my mind.  My eyes was like roaming and inspecting, making sure all belongings inside the bus is placed beside its owners.  But that bag, it stayed there for almost 15minutes. It made me more anxious. 15minutes, for crying out loud! Inspite of this, I was apparently calm.

Where the heck is the owner of that bag? Pass 25minutes, still no one is seated next to it and I was totally scared. I looked at Chem and was about to stand to report to the Bus driver when a middle aged man came through and finally seated next to the bag, which freaked the heck out of me and gave me goosebumps. I was a bit relieved. Chem finally heard me talking.

In a minute, the bus driver began manipulating the bus' steering wheel. Prayed to God to bless our trip. I looked at the person who owned the bag. "If he only knew", says my mind, then laid my back comfortably on the seat looking ahead on the road.

On our way, Chem slept the whole time while inside the bus. Me? I was busy sight seeing though at times, I take a nap. The road going to GenSan made me dizzy for awhile. I just needed to close my eyes.

9:33am..we're finally in General Santos City. I was texting Ma'am Sol where were we and extended her wishes for us. I'm the type of person who wants to remember the landmarks of the places i went to, most especially if its my first time.

10am..Dropped ourselves infront of Gaisano Mall. Our dear friend Van was waiting for us outside the mall. We headed to the comfort zone for ladies to freshen up and to pee. The trip caused our digestive organs to complain, waiting for something to digest. Van took us to SPAZIO, hmmm actually my first time there and its meals looked and sounded delectable. Anyways, the tres marias [3 ladies] ordered pasta. We didn't pass the moment to take pictures and even asked one of its staff to take our photos. Thanks Mister!

We chatted while enjoying our meal and decided to go to HTC after lunch.

1:00pm..At the entrance of HTC, we were welcomed with trophies, plaques and other memorabilias of achievements and recognition of the school. Amazing! We were accomodated by its staff, assisted us in filling up forms and guided us throughout the application process.

Skills Demonstration examination and interview pushed through.
Chem and I did our very best and it paid-off.
WE PASSED THE HEALTH CARE SERVICES NC II ASSESSMENT
Thank GOD!

Thank you so much to the HCS Department of the HTC for such a warm welcome and accomodation.  To Ma'am Cynthia, the School Nurse; Ma'am Lia, HCS Department Head; Ma'am Jane, one of the Faculty members and to the Assessor Ma'am CM. Our profound gratitude. Until our next meeting.

Thank you also to our friend Van who accompanied us. You are such a blessing. GOD BLESS!! Before heading home, we passed by KCC Mall and dined at Mandarin. But, of course! Something should be celebrated. After which, we strolled around for awhile and then parted ways.
The bus left the Terminal at 7:50pm. I guess that was the last trip back to Digos City. Chem and I settled at the backseat of the driver. I sent a text message to Papa that his dear daughter is on her way home. I don't want him to worry kasi eh.

10pm..I'm home. Tired but happy. Exhausted but fulfilled. Thank you, Lord! It was a worth-it travel. What we've gone through was not easy. It was tough. I could still feel some body malaise. It's been a while since I did some body mechanics.  I just pray our students would surpass all the competencies.

Hopefully, soon. Goodnight, everyone!! GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME. =)

Day 1 - Batch 3

I arrived at school surprised to see the beds being fixed. Finally, they installed side rails on each bed. Students wouldn't forget raising them during their practice in bed making.

They made up a linen and garbage trolley. Good. No assuming will take place.  All actual skills will be implemented. Good for the student-reviewee.  We do hope they all passed this HCS NC 2 exam by TESDA.

While waiting for the beds, we sticked-on art papers on each garbage bin according to its prescribed color.  Chem began the review with Handling waste in an Environment.  Then, each of them gets to try on wearing PPEs [personal protective equipments] and go on from segregating to storing of waste.

Its morning and my day is  getting annoyed by this particular student who seems to know-it-all. As if she knows everything. I just don't like her attitude. I observed as they were doing the folding of each linen, she blames her mistakes to her classmates and has this histrionic type of personality. Grrr...I shifted monitoring instead the works of another group in their bedmaking.  I can't bear to see her.  My patience is holding me back.

Transport and Mobility followed and some of them are still 'blank page' when a situation is applied.  Right hemiplegia or Left hemiplegia.

New bags
Essa, Chem and I went to HP to check on the bag that we were rooting for the past weeks. We looked around and was captured by the sleek design and brightly colored cushioned bags with a heart-shaped stitches.  Thought of buying the same design but in different colors. Talk about the sisterhood of stylish bags..hehehe...

Chem picked the violet one, Essa chose the red one and I was left undecided whether to choose the white or a yellow one.  They were shouldering the bags when Chem decided to change her chosen color to green. I was happy Violet is now available.  I picked it up and asked Chem if she might change her decision.  She won't na daw and settle for the Green.  I checked the stitches before going to the counter. I am now a proud owner of a violet bag.

I'm tired. Need to catch some sleep. Goodnight, everyone!

Day 2 - Batch 2

Skills demo continues today. 10 days to go before our HCS NC 2 exam and I do pray Chem and I will passed. May GOD guide our trip to General Santos City.  It's our first time and may it be a productive one for both of us.

Looks forward to whatever will happen today. Have a blessed sunday everyone!!

Day 1 - Batch 2

6:30am It's the 2nd week of the review period and has to meet another batch of students. Maam Chem had to attend to an important matter while yours truly had to facilitate the funda lab.

8:30am I left home, kinda late as the time scheduled. We had an early visitors kasi. Family friends so I entertained them muna.

9am Had a brief introduction on what they are going to do during the NC 2 exam then started the demonstration skills, beginning with the Unoccupied, Occupied bed making to Mobility and Transporting Patients. Told them to observe first, practice later so that when my two companion arrives, time for the return demonstration.

They all realized it does look easy but difficult to perform. Presence of mind and familiarization is key. While doing the procedure, use proper body mechanics to prevent back injury.

12nn The two hasn't arrived yet. I had lunch with Maam V, Mai & Joy at Mer's.

1pm Review resumes and the students began to practice demonstration. Some were doing good but needs more practice and some do not have the initiative.

2pm-3pm My two companions finally arrived.

8:30pm Went home kinda exhausted. Hungry. My cellphone keeps on beeping. Messages keeps pouring in. My gosh, another set of delayed messages.

9pm Now tapping the keyboards. Awhile ago, my sister freaked out! Was surprised to see the cracked line on the screen of her iphone. Got upset with what happened. I never intended to do that. My carelessness attacks na naman. I should have taken more care of that, to think it wasn't really mine. She almost cried. Pity. It was a phone she saved for..then now, the broken line disables the touch screen function. I tried typing a message or browsing the menu using its stylus, it could still detect little sensors.

I went inside the room, thinking then released a big sigh of dismay. They were having dinner then. I was upset. Blamed myself. Teary-eyed. Accepted everything my sister would tell me. "Careless!". [sighs]

I said sorry, of course. Don't want to end my day with a battle. I asked for her apology. She accepted and asked forgiveness also. She got carried away with her emotions.. ya know.. Told her I'd pay for the damage. She forgave me.

Thank God, I could sleep without a troubled thought. GOODNIGHT, everyone! =)

Day 2 - Batch 1

Ms. Nav began demonstrating Patient's Transport & Mobility when I set foot in school. Few minutes after, Ms. Chem arrived. Pardon our tardiness, Ms. Nav [chuckles].

Lecture - Demonstration - Demonstration - Practice/Implementation took place. Ms. Nav demonstrated the new techniques on making an OCCUPIED BED. Kinda complicated, there's an involved situation and incorporation of housekeeping principles. We still have yet to learn.

We had our lunch at BANOKS. It's my 2nd time and the first of these two. The first time was my sister's treat. We ordered grilled chicken and Calamares. This trio loves calamares., take note. I thought it was a garlic sauce. Nav uttered "it's mustard". I was never a fan of mustard. I forked one meat and dipped into. It taste great pala!" What makes them different from other Native Restaurant is that they serve soup before order taking. The customer service can be fairly rated and I, We never had any problem with them.

We were so stuffed and lazy to go back to school.

Back at school, Ms. Nav continued with her review on Handling Waste and PPEs [personal protective equipment]. It may sound like an easy topic but can be very difficult if a reviewee wont pay attention to each of its concept. Sir Jo came by and ask which of us [me and Ms. Chem] would take the YP4SC assessment test programmed for TESDA. The registration ate most of the time I spent in the internet lab. When I got registered, test begins. Oh my God! The distance between me and the monitor seemed to be getting closer as each of the 6 sets of exam sets in.

I like calculations but not a mathematician. We were given the arithmetic problem reasoning, vocabulary, comparison, object matching to name a few.

I was able to complete all sets of the exam and got a copy of the result. Felt like the glucose in my brain were all used up.

Back in the room, they were all looking at me and get to share with the students the experience.

Tough exam, that is! It was nice meeting Ms. Nav. Looking forward for two more weeks of companionship and I do hope it doesn't end there. God Bless.
