When laughter takes a consequence...

Have you had the feeling of being punished for not doing anything? No, I never said a word or act violently or ridiculously towards a person.  It's like by chance, you face a consequence. A consequence which makes you feel down and very upsetting.

Just this afternoon, Chem and I were chatting when some funny answers from i-wont-tell-na-lang made us almost to roll on the floor laughing.  We paused for awhile, rest. Continued what we are doing then the bulb flickered and I thought of something will happen later as a trade. I felt bad. My mood shifted but I shrug it off. Whatever, i told myself.

The review was supposed to end at 8pm. We were asked until what time daw kami. I answered, till 7pm only so we were given a P300 for our dinner. Chem and Essa were holding back themselves to received the money.  I refused to received it in a nice way.  [yes, ako na naman ang sumagot]. We were having our late snack na din kasi.  yeah, I know we could have received it na lang sana.  But I don't feel the sincerity of the approach.

By the way, THANK YOU ESSA for the CHOCOLATE SMOOTH CAKE you brought from RED RIBBON. Thank you for being thoughtful!!

Thank you also to Genelyn for the softdrinks..ahhh..thirst-quenching!!

Going back, the approach kasi was like handing in the money without looking at the person. Parang may doubts na unsa ba.  Duh, whatever. I would treat my two friends more than the worth of that P300. Mag e enjoy pa kami.

In addendum, I would like to voice out something. A family friend, actually my mother's friend bump with my sister in a fast-food chain few days ago.  She asked how my sister's studies is doing and asked her about me taking the Board Exam, "Di po siya nag take Auntie, problema po ulit sa birth certificate niya". Her reaction daw was like in disbelief, with frowned eyebrows pa, ang dami ng sinabi. My sister felt irritated when she related it to me.  I felt bad. Nanay ko ba siya? Kairita! pwede ba?I Naglagot jud ko niya. Sometimes, people can be annoying.  My day would come, remember that!!

I shouldn't be feeling like this. Siguro napapraning na naman ako. Minsan kasi di maiiwasan, na feeling mo napag iiwanan ka na. Pero di naman. I love what I am doing. Sometimes nga lang I mind people's comment. It makes me down na naman. Dinadaan ko na nga lang sa tawa minsan eh but I remained sane.  Yung ibang tao, sobrang taas ng tingin nila sa sarili nila, di nila alam nakakasakit na sila.  I'm only human, fragile to being emotional. Thank God, my supportive and loving family is always there for me.  I love them so much.

When we were in College, on our way to Davao for a night duty, my groupmates and I kept on laughing inside the bus till we get to our boarding house.  Few hours before our duty, I went to visit my friend in the neighboring street to hand-in some typing jobs.  When I was about to take another step, I accidentally stepped on a wooden platform covering a small manhole. In a snap, I found my other leg slipped on a small hole. I was able to get hold and asked for my friends help. She helped me go up.  Thankfully, my right leg was never dipped unto a foul-smelling drainage. I had abrasions as a remembrance.  I was wearing shorts kasi at that time.  I tried to hide it from my boardmates but all of them seemed to notice my unusual way of walking.  So, I told them what happened and uttered "Eto na yung kapalit ng kakatawa ko kanina..[This is the trade of my non-stop laughing awhile ago].."

I know things happen for a reason. I guess I was just paranoid to think of linking things to a situation. They said laughter is the best medicine. Therapeutic, that is. But how come when something good happens, something bad sets in?

Day 1 - Batch 3

I arrived at school surprised to see the beds being fixed. Finally, they installed side rails on each bed. Students wouldn't forget raising them during their practice in bed making.

They made up a linen and garbage trolley. Good. No assuming will take place.  All actual skills will be implemented. Good for the student-reviewee.  We do hope they all passed this HCS NC 2 exam by TESDA.

While waiting for the beds, we sticked-on art papers on each garbage bin according to its prescribed color.  Chem began the review with Handling waste in an Environment.  Then, each of them gets to try on wearing PPEs [personal protective equipments] and go on from segregating to storing of waste.

Its morning and my day is  getting annoyed by this particular student who seems to know-it-all. As if she knows everything. I just don't like her attitude. I observed as they were doing the folding of each linen, she blames her mistakes to her classmates and has this histrionic type of personality. Grrr...I shifted monitoring instead the works of another group in their bedmaking.  I can't bear to see her.  My patience is holding me back.

Transport and Mobility followed and some of them are still 'blank page' when a situation is applied.  Right hemiplegia or Left hemiplegia.

New bags
Essa, Chem and I went to HP to check on the bag that we were rooting for the past weeks. We looked around and was captured by the sleek design and brightly colored cushioned bags with a heart-shaped stitches.  Thought of buying the same design but in different colors. Talk about the sisterhood of stylish bags..hehehe...

Chem picked the violet one, Essa chose the red one and I was left undecided whether to choose the white or a yellow one.  They were shouldering the bags when Chem decided to change her chosen color to green. I was happy Violet is now available.  I picked it up and asked Chem if she might change her decision.  She won't na daw and settle for the Green.  I checked the stitches before going to the counter. I am now a proud owner of a violet bag.

I'm tired. Need to catch some sleep. Goodnight, everyone!

held at Pearl Center,
Digos City

HCS program celebrates 2nd Pinning & Candle Lighting Ceremonies

DIGOS CITY (February 27) -- Forty two Health Care Services students participated in the second Pinning and Candle lighting ceremony of the Philippine International Technological School held at the Pearl Center, Digos City on February 27, 2009.

A thanksgiving mass by Rev. Fr. Cornelio B. Toraja, DCD at the Mary Mediatrix of all Graces Church. Extended his warm greetings to the newly blessed batch of Candidates for being a participant of the remarkable event. Ceremony followed at Pearl Center.

Guest speaker Mr. Patrick G. Poculan, RN discussed the role of Health Care Assistants. He stressed that the health care providers are a vital part of the health care team. Mr. Poculan explained further the importance of the Nursing Aides in rendering care to patients, "You are the direct care workers due to your role in working with patients, having to spend more contacts with them than do other members of the staff. Thus, nursing aides are the principal caregivers of the main clients of health sector. You do most of the hands-ons procedures."

A registered nurse, Mr. Poculan is presently a Nurse Volunteer at Medical Center of Digos Cooperative. An NCLEX and IELTS passer, he is also a certified Caregiver, holder of the National Certificate Level II by the Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA).

He added that "You give comfort to clients after working with them, because you have the hands of a considerate and empathetic skilled worker. Because you spend more time with patients, you develop ongoing relationships with them and interact with them in a positive, caring way."

Mr. Poculan urged the participants to be proud and work along the team with dignity, bringing along with you your stock knowledge, and preparedness to handle situations with your mastery in skills. Be tactful, patient, understanding, emotionally stable and you should have a strong desire to help people.

"You are part of the health care team; you should be able to work as a part of the team", he ended.

The ceremony was then followed by the recessional for which everybody shared sumptous meals prepared by the Catering service of the venue.

It was a successful event. To the newly blessed batch of candidates, remember that those pins were rewarded to acknowledge your commitment, skills, dedication and love for work. Till next time, on the 3rd Pinning ceremony.

Our special thanks to:

Mr. Poculan for accepting our invitation. Our profound gratitude, Sir!
Rudy's Art Photography esp. to the very accomodating Ma'am Julie. We all looked gorgeous!!
Mr. Jonathan Arendain. Thanks for understanding the situation.

Amazing Race is back! Yes, Season 14 is set to hit the television tonight at 9pm on AXN Channel 36..oh, i just can't wait to see him and the new sets of competitors from all aspects in life..

I did some early research on The Teams. I'm excited to watch the mother and son team, for which the latter had a speaking disability. Makes me remember Adrian and Collin of Amazing Race Asia 2.  I've got to watch Tammy and Victor, as well. The sibling lawyers from San Francisco and Los Angeles, California with chinese bloodlines.

Will there be another sibling winners just like the latest season?

Siblings Nick and Starr Spangler won season 13.

Those who loves Amazing Race, watch out for it!!

Day 1 - Batch 2

6:30am It's the 2nd week of the review period and has to meet another batch of students. Maam Chem had to attend to an important matter while yours truly had to facilitate the funda lab.

8:30am I left home, kinda late as the time scheduled. We had an early visitors kasi. Family friends so I entertained them muna.

9am Had a brief introduction on what they are going to do during the NC 2 exam then started the demonstration skills, beginning with the Unoccupied, Occupied bed making to Mobility and Transporting Patients. Told them to observe first, practice later so that when my two companion arrives, time for the return demonstration.

They all realized it does look easy but difficult to perform. Presence of mind and familiarization is key. While doing the procedure, use proper body mechanics to prevent back injury.

12nn The two hasn't arrived yet. I had lunch with Maam V, Mai & Joy at Mer's.

1pm Review resumes and the students began to practice demonstration. Some were doing good but needs more practice and some do not have the initiative.

2pm-3pm My two companions finally arrived.

8:30pm Went home kinda exhausted. Hungry. My cellphone keeps on beeping. Messages keeps pouring in. My gosh, another set of delayed messages.

9pm Now tapping the keyboards. Awhile ago, my sister freaked out! Was surprised to see the cracked line on the screen of her iphone. Got upset with what happened. I never intended to do that. My carelessness attacks na naman. I should have taken more care of that, to think it wasn't really mine. She almost cried. Pity. It was a phone she saved for..then now, the broken line disables the touch screen function. I tried typing a message or browsing the menu using its stylus, it could still detect little sensors.

I went inside the room, thinking then released a big sigh of dismay. They were having dinner then. I was upset. Blamed myself. Teary-eyed. Accepted everything my sister would tell me. "Careless!". [sighs]

I said sorry, of course. Don't want to end my day with a battle. I asked for her apology. She accepted and asked forgiveness also. She got carried away with her emotions.. ya know.. Told her I'd pay for the damage. She forgave me.

Thank God, I could sleep without a troubled thought. GOODNIGHT, everyone! =)

Day 2 - Batch 1

Ms. Nav began demonstrating Patient's Transport & Mobility when I set foot in school. Few minutes after, Ms. Chem arrived. Pardon our tardiness, Ms. Nav [chuckles].

Lecture - Demonstration - Demonstration - Practice/Implementation took place. Ms. Nav demonstrated the new techniques on making an OCCUPIED BED. Kinda complicated, there's an involved situation and incorporation of housekeeping principles. We still have yet to learn.

We had our lunch at BANOKS. It's my 2nd time and the first of these two. The first time was my sister's treat. We ordered grilled chicken and Calamares. This trio loves calamares., take note. I thought it was a garlic sauce. Nav uttered "it's mustard". I was never a fan of mustard. I forked one meat and dipped into. It taste great pala!" What makes them different from other Native Restaurant is that they serve soup before order taking. The customer service can be fairly rated and I, We never had any problem with them.

We were so stuffed and lazy to go back to school.

Back at school, Ms. Nav continued with her review on Handling Waste and PPEs [personal protective equipment]. It may sound like an easy topic but can be very difficult if a reviewee wont pay attention to each of its concept. Sir Jo came by and ask which of us [me and Ms. Chem] would take the YP4SC assessment test programmed for TESDA. The registration ate most of the time I spent in the internet lab. When I got registered, test begins. Oh my God! The distance between me and the monitor seemed to be getting closer as each of the 6 sets of exam sets in.

I like calculations but not a mathematician. We were given the arithmetic problem reasoning, vocabulary, comparison, object matching to name a few.

I was able to complete all sets of the exam and got a copy of the result. Felt like the glucose in my brain were all used up.

Back in the room, they were all looking at me and get to share with the students the experience.

Tough exam, that is! It was nice meeting Ms. Nav. Looking forward for two more weeks of companionship and I do hope it doesn't end there. God Bless.

Shelter for the Elderly's

After my class this afternoon, I went to the Temporary Shelter for the Elderly Women to confirm the next batch of trainees who will have their OJT. While waiting for Sister Minda, I looked upon the Elderly's profile and their day-to-day activities posted along the corridors. I remembered my Lola Lucing and Lola Ibay. My Lola Lucing is still alive and could still carry a load of laundry on a basin. [chuckles]

It's my 2nd time to go there. The first time was when I submitted the communication letter but never got the chance to see the Elderly's. They were already in their respective beds that time for an afternoon rest. Today, I get to finally see them. God, I miss my Lola(s).

Oh well, these people has come to their late adulthood stage. A stage of realization, of mesmerizing things that happened in their life.

The said place is run by the Camillian Sisters headed by Sister Minda. I had a short talk with her concerning the number of trainees and to check also the performance of the present OJTs. So far, so good. Our students are doing their task well.

Adventure in the City

It was my first time to go wall climbing --- so when my students told me about this recreational activity, I count myself in! I'm the one kasi who would never back out on a spur-of-the-moment adventure.
Never got to join them in the morning 'cause our Administrator called in for a meeting. But when I learned there's another batch to climb this afternoon, my adventure is finally pushing through.
Ophelei showed me their photos during our lunch with Ma'am G, Gene, Neña and Chem at Jollibee drive through. Told Chem we really need to try that whatever it takes. When we got to the place, I stared at the wall. "I see", I muttered to myself.

D.A.M. initials at lower right corner of the wall stands for Digos Active Mountaineers.

The Pros and the Amateurs
The KAGRUPO mountaineers assisted us on wearing the harness and other equipments. We were ready and very excited. They double checked our gears. Ok, good to go. I've seen this on TV and now I am the one crawling with a free audience by the street. Sir Cholo Dela Peña [in red shirt, who owns the outdoor wall] made a brief orientation and reminders. So there, we began crawling like spidey...
The beginning [1st phase] Near halfway

I guess they pres
umed we knew how to as well. It seemed practical -- step on the stone, make a strong grip, go up and reach the peak of the 24ft outdoor wall..as simple as that. At first, I was moving faster but my friend is much faster than me. I guess the weight would explain it. [chuckles].
Halfway already [2nd phase]..the wall bearing the name of the very accommodating KAGRUPO

Yes, we did it!!

Believe me, it's not as easy as it looks, but entails a courage and perseverance as you go upward. Don't forget to have fun, as well. While I was middle of the wall on the 1st phase, my muscles were already trembling but I never gave up. I have to continue. I became more tense when one of the stone I hold on to was moving. Yikes! I never freaked out, but I felt nervous. It will only make me a Loser for quitting. I proceeded even though Chem has completed her task. I proceeded, I survive, I did it!!

To Sir Cholo, Vince, Ayex, Felix, and Jan-jan...THANK YOU!!

You too can also experience the
excitement, fun-filled and thrilling adventure. If you're a resident of Digos City, drop by their office at Rizal Avenue infront of Digos City National High School. The outdoor wall is located along Rizal Avenue going Flying A, a block away from Petron Gas Station. Check our for yourself!!

November 2008 NLE Results

My friends were asking yours truly if the November 2008 Board Exam Results has come out..nope, not yet. It will be released by the 3rd to 4th week of February. Click on this link --> [source]

Got the receipt!!

The weather is gloomy since this morning. Drizzling. Cold. Good for nap time [chuckles]. But I never took the bite. I went on with my daily routine of going to school, early of course. Meet my students, continue with the discussions till my last subject.

Oh yeah, its payday and i haven't received my payslip yet [sighs]. As if I'd received large amount. After my class at 2pm, I head to PLDT-Digos to inquire on how I could avail the free 2months NDD service included on myDSL bundle. When I got there, I was given a priority #3. I think I was the only customer waiting to be served. While waiting, I heard a lady is following up their application. Oh my, remembering. I've been through that. The agony of waiting. They were like calling here and rummaging through piles of papers. Poor lady, all she could received was the same statement I received few months back.

Anyways, I was given a small paper with a to follow directions on how to connect directly. But, I had to wait for the dial tone to change from the usual tone to ambulance tone. In that way, my phone could make calls directly nationwide na, FREE!! [2months, per se]. Not now. Not tomorrow. When? I don't know. It's up to the Service Order, as they say. The cashier then handed the receipt I've been longing for.

So far, I am enjoying my internet connection. I am now loving PLDT =)
