Learning more about the Lola's

Today is the Graduating Class' Recollection at San Isidro Church. Graduation is forthcoming next Wednesday. I dropped by at School first before heading to church. Had to meet up with the Registrar concerning the academic standing of one of our students.

At the church, the Graduating class officers handed in the remembrance T-shirts with an Adviser printed at the back. Thank you, guyz! :) Lunch time came, we started distributing the foods for each student. It was a good experience. Na happy jud ko. :) Jopet, Van and I had a short talk may our students learn the value of this whole day event and instill in their minds the moral lessons people from the church imparted. I do pray also for the reconciliation of someone very close to me. May our minds be enlightened! You Take care always. Keep safe :)

At 2:30pm, we headed to the Shelter for the Elderly. Our students interaction with the Elderly's at the Camillian continues. People there including Sister Minda were glad to have us back since most of the Lola's [tagalog term for Elderly's] has seen quite improvement most especially their human relations. We, the Faculty from HCS Department is thankful also to the Camillian Sisters for gracing us the time to spend with the Lola's.

Truly, you became our extended family. Caring for the Elderly is not that easy. Sometimes, you feel sorry and pity towards them knowing some of their family members still exist. But no matter what, we're here for you Lola's and we'll continue to visit you often times. We love you so.

One of the jolly Lola in the Shelter is Lola Lila. She has a sharp memory. She could remember ones identity by means of holding on to her palms. I was touched when one instance I introduced myself to her and told her that I am one of the Instructors of the trainees who were taking care of them. She uttered my fullname and my designation when I hold on to her palms. She was about to tell me something but that time, dinner is served for them. Yup, as early as 5pm kasi they had to go to bed early also. Don't worry Lola Lila, we'll be back on Monday. I am missing you already.

While waiting for our students to finished doing after care, I continued conversing with Sister Minda. She handed me this clear book and I was surprised to see an array of the Blessed Virgin Mary's photos. It became her hobby of collecting pictures of the Sacred Our lady from all over the world. She had an extraordinary collection. Now, she began collecting photos of different churches and she related she'll start with the ancient ones. Told her am gonna take pictures of churches in Luzon or where ever may pagkalaagan takes me..hehehe! When I get the chance to have a short vacation.

We never went back to San Isidro 'cause we thought they finished as scheduled. We headed home instead. My day was not put to waste. :) Thank God for the guidance and for leading me to the good side as what You always do to people who believe in You.

PCDS Alumni Homecoming 2009

Last year, I wasn't able to witness the very first Reunion 'cause the gathering ended too early so I looked forward to this. I was thinking what to wear and what hairstyle to do before the event and come up with a simple jeans and blouse outfit. I was expecting numerous people would attend but only few were present. It was supposed to start at 3pm as announced. I thought it started already but when I got there, only March Shane, Ma'am Les, Lyndon and Ma'am Jen were present. Kulang malamang sa information dissemination kaya di alam ng ibang madlang people ang tungkol sa gathering. Sana nagpa advertise sila sa TV or radio or an invitation may be given. Next time maybe. :)

While waiting for the others, we head to the School's mini but cozy Restobar upstairs of the new Admin-HRM building wherein you can overlook part of Digos City. Wow! [that's all I could say]. Para ka talagang nasa Hotel kasi its situated along McArthur Highway. Killing time reading magazines, two from the batch 2003 of Criminology Department came in, Mr. B. Tapanan and Mr. A. Canoy. 'Hi's and 'Hello's' were exchanged. Wala na man gud daw sila contact sa lain nila nga ka-batch.

I kept on texting my batchmates to come over and join the gathering but only Michequela replied she would catch up. I sensed some alibis from the others and understood the reason of some who cannot come due to call of duty [ya know what I mean]. Then, someone arrived. It was Jay A. with his fiancee [char!]. He obviously gained some weight and very much looked happy. I felt relieved a bit having someone from our group/batch. Syempre, chikka galore! Jay is working as Clinical Instructor of our Alma Mater.

Around 6pm, Eddie G. welcomed everyone who were present and had each one of us to state our names, what course and from what batch. And to spice up the event, we played 'Paint me a Picture' in which each member of the group would act and freeze as to what picture or scene would the host wants. The judge was Ma'am Jen Ybanez, presently the School's Dean of Nursing who was also an Alumna of PCDS. We, the group 2 only got 2 points defeated by the group of Marc Shane who got 5 points. It was FUN! Group 1 were very creative with their acts. Nurses are indeed artistic and creative. Can't wait to see the pix which Ma'am Jen took for documentation.

That game made our stomach gurgling. Gigutom na among mga bitok, hahaha!!! Before meals were served, Ed opened up the highlight of the gathering: to organize and elect new sets of Officers. Hopefully, this 2010 PCDS will Officially declare its Alumni Association. Paper works are already in progress. Secretary Eddie G. is currently working on this.

President elect Marc Shane Adeva got a unanimous votes [congrats, shane!], presided the nomination and was succeeded by Mr. B. Tapanan. Secretary is still Mr. Ed Garbosa and yours truly was nominated and elected as the Alumni Treasurer [I thought I was through with this during College.] Having been the Treasurer [from Class treasurer to Department Treasurer to INTRAMS Team Treasurer since First year College, now, I'm at it again [sighs]. Anyways, thanks for the trust guyz! I guess I'll be facing a much bigger task. PIO [Public Information Officer] goes to Mr. N. Otbo. Goodluck new sets of Officers and Congratulations!

May humabol pa, si Ma'am Flora Mae, Michay, Ate Bem Gutierrez, Elizabeth, Jeffrey A., Bench Lopez, Loi and her twin brother Lemuel [fresh from Saudi <--welcome back!] followed by Gil and Lynel [gikan pud ni Saudi ang duha]. Very noticeable ang ringtone sa CP ni Lemuel kay katong scary sound sa Grudge. Nyay!

For our dinner, we had Pork and Chicken BBQ individually packed and refreshed with Coca Cola. Hopefully next gathering would be a bit 'bongga!'. While enjoying our meals, we talked about our whereabouts. Glad to hear from these guys again. Ma'am Jen and Eddie went home early.

The room was filled with so much laughter. Jeffrey, Bench and Gil's cool gags never ceased to make us all laugh. Sayang nga lang at wala si Chaky, Richard, Odiaman at Neil kay magsige na lang jud mi ug pangatawa aning grupoha.

Amazed by the development of PCDS, the group was excited to see the New Funda Lab. Walking through the hallway, we reminisced the times siting on those kiosk holding bulky photocopies and manuals waiting for our Instructors, then..the heels of our black shoes gets a dose of muddy stuff each time we passed by..now, the hallway is fully cemented..bow! how could someone forget the intrigueros and intrigueras na walang humpay sa pagpanglibak sa mga gaagi nga estudyante. hahaha!! [people who makes fun of students who passes by]. Then, we were all clad in pencil uniforms with a universe-like tailor infront. Now, Blouse and Pants are in, paired with black shoes. The hallway was echoed with laughter recalling and sharing stories of those unforgettable Instructors who sells photocopies for P2 and those who sells Peanut Butter right after Class. How can we forget.

Bongga! was the word I heard when we step inside the Lab. The equipments, tools, their Mini DR, mini OR, CSR and even the Nurses Station feast their eyes. I've seen this already when I served as Practicing Assessor for Competency Assessment of HCS NC II last June, 2009. The guys made fun of Gil trying to lock him at LD-RD Room. Wow, our school is different! It changed for the better.

We took pictures and recalled each experience we had during Return Demonstrations. The New Lab has numerous hospital beds unlike before [hahaha!].

Pass 8pm, we parted ways. But before that, gisulit jud ni Ate Bem ang chance to take pictures sa labas ng dear Alma Mater namin where all the faces of those who passed the Board Exam were posted.

It was good seeing them all again and had so much fun. So, to all GRADUATES OF POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE OF DAVAO DEL SUR, see you all next year for the 3rd Alumni Homecoming.

A happy call

We were heading school after our morning shift duty when I checked on my phone, I got a missed call from my Honey. My students stared at me teasing 'cause of an indifferent smile that was drawn on my face. Well, you know..[chuckles]

I had my phone switch into silent mode for the rest of our duty. Of course, I was hoping he'd call again..hehe. So, I changed my tone and waited for the call again. I know at that time he was at work. and maybe, just called to check on me or misses me siguro, ahehehe...sabay ganon.

Anyways, at home while tapping keyboard infront of my PC, he called again. People at home were teasing and just like any teenager, sino kayang di kikiligin??? Well, had to make this short, though. Just wanna share that I had a tiring yet happy day because of that call made by Honey. He doesn't know pa about this post. I guess when he gets the time to stay longer infront of his PC, he would find out. I'm just happy, smiling while typing the words. It's been 4months na pala. Thank you for the calls [with an 's' kay kadaghan na man - hahaha], honey. I am beginning to spill sugars in here..lamigason ta ani ug taman. Hunong na..hehehe.. Basta, take good care of yourself, always. Stay safe. You know how much I love you. God Bless! (",)

Featured

I was working on my papers this morning and was online at the same time on my Facebook account when DEFINITELY FILIPINO announced that they are featuring new pictures for their "at school or at work" album. My excitatory neurotransmitter excites me more as i browse all the pictures I have on my PC to look for pictures that, hopefully, may be featured. Found some, about 5 and sent to their posted email add.

Afternoon...

The thought of getting my photos featured was still lurking in my mind as I was having my lecture. Yes, I was excited to go home. Few more hours before going home, it rained DINOSAURS [lol] outside. My students kept on turning their backs on the doorway trying to peek at the rain that is outpouring non-stop. Unusual, it was like a start of a typhoon accompanied by strong winds. Lights inside the classroom was flickering but blackout was unsuccessful. The rain didn't last long. Thank GOD. 10 or 20 times of that rain must have striked luzon areas. I do pray for all the victims, our relatives and to my honey's friends, family and relatives. That they may be all safe. Life is what's more important. Things can be bought again.

Evening...

Went home around 7:45pm. Had dinner. Watched amazing race 15 while my sister tends her Farm. When it was my turn to go online, I immediately looked for DF's album. Kept on clicking next since a lot of photos was uploaded and voila! saw one photo..ok, four more to go. I wasn't expecting though that all 5 photos gets to be featured. I'm happy they had picked one. There were already comments posted and this blogger responded to each comment. Kept on clicking again when another photo i submitted was uploaded by them. Wow! thanks Definitely Filipino. Went on to view more photos. I was so happy. Most of the featured photos were Medical practitioners, so far. Medtechs, Nurses mostly. Nurses are everywhere in the world!! Thumbs up Nurses!!

My eyes are falling asleep. Had to go to bed. I had a busy day. Good night, everyone! (",)

B for Busy

Thank GOD, its weekend but tomorrow would be a busy day once again. Seminar by PNRC to our students, review of some trainees for the Assessment, meet up with new batch of Scholars..oh boy!! Add to that the modules that we have to produced for the School Auditing next week. And Finals is next week, too! Had to make questionnaires, quizzes and criteria for the role play, plus computation and submission of grades. arrrgh!!! This week made me raise my stress level but I was able to cope up, though.

On the lighter side, I am sooooo excited for the visit to a farm on one of our student next Sunday. What an adventure for the semestral break! I really need that. Thanks for the invite, Criscel. I could now get to experience REAL FARMING. Humanda yang strawberries, cabbage and carrots niyo..hehehe. This blogger got hooked on FARMING [Facebook mode] 2 months ago when Jopay oriented and taught me the basics, off to the World of Virtual Farming. And the rest is history. Now, I am repaying what i've learned to some of the newbies of this very popular game in town. Well actually, at this moment, I was waiting for my students to go online, to have my pineapples harvested. wink! wink! ;-) Otherwise, I'd hire someone else in the market.

catching up with an old buddy

I just handed down the handset. A talk from patzs just ended. Both of us has to cut the conversation, may work pa kasi tomorrow. For there will be continuation of the conversation on our next meeting [where he promised a COFFEE TREAT ---Yipeee!!!!].

Got shocked upon seeing him in his new hair color late this afternoon where i brought my sister to see a doctor. The same old friend with more new things to find out. We caught up on stuffs, his whereabouts, about me, about life, talked about the latest happenings of our batch mate. Who's who? The recent passers of the June 2009 Nurse Licensure Examination. By the way,

I feel hungry already about a long talk and laugh with my friend. Looking forward for that COFFEE TREAT. Its already noted in my planner. Question is...when?? hehehehe. Sunday perhaps?? Basi mawala na pud ka sa sirkulasyon, friend. hehehe!

Work Abroad

Some of my batchmate [in college] were now working overseas. Well, i'd be a hypocrite if i'd say i don't envy them. I envy them because they are on their way of raking greener opportunities. While me, and some of us are stucked here where career growth isn't possible. We have a job, yes but [you see, there's a 'but'] its not enough.

Its one of my goal in life - TO WORK ABROAD! My motivational thermometer has risen up after seeing the pictures of our batchmate in college [through Friendster] now working in London. Wow, amazing! Ikaw na jud, jave. Magkita ra ta diha puhon-puhon. God permits!

But I guess GOD make all things possible at the right time. I know He has reasons, I have a purpose for staying [for awhile], hehehe. Given the chance, I'd grab the opportunity of working overseas. I just need to work on my papers. Hopefully, my birth certificate problem gets to be ironed out soon. Muambak jud ko taman-taman masulbad ning sulirana --hahahaha!!

Foods Galore!

This evening we presented 4 sandwiches for our Commercial Cooking NC II class and prepared Home-made mayonnaise. Our dominant arms were exhausted beating, mixing all the ingredients. Not that easy, I tell you [chuckles]. There were portable hand mixers available in the cabinet but Sir Bong wanted all of us to experience the natural way of making mayonnaise. So, off we go holding wire whisk and mixing bowl. I get your point, Sir. Thank you.

After the presentation, our group [Bernz, Jopay, Dawn, Joy, JP, Van] shared what we prepared to people who's still present in the kitchen. Thanks by the way Dawn for the softdrinks. It took all our thirst-quenching throat to refresh! Although tired and stressed out, we all went home happy, satisfied, full not to mention the big scream of this blogger [char!] after we stepped out of the school's premises. Kaw daw mukalit ug ka brown-out niya haskang ngitngita! hahaha!! Thanks to our friends who ushered us sa kanto and waited for us to ride a tricycle before taking off. How sweet of our amegahs [hugs].

Oh, got to check my sister's temperature. Until here, goodnight! (",)

Great Achievement

Later part this afternoon after school, I went to church to light candles and to thank GOD for such great news I've received a few days ago. I still couldn't believe my eyes when I received a text message from our School Administrator gleefully extending her Congratulations for the release of my Accreditation [as of July03, 2009] as Competency Assessor for Health Care Services NC II. Until now, that message is still in my inbox. The origin of the text message was from TESDA-Davao City.

I was having my class when I received the message [ahm, excuse me my cellphone was in silent mode ;-) hehe]. With the joy and excitement, I shared the good news to my students and they were very happy for me. I forwarded the text to my sister and Papa. The two very important people in my life. They were proud of me. Papa replied through text "this calls for a celebration". Promise pa, when you get home.

Wow, such great achievement. I worked hard for this. Thank you, LORD! My effort was not put into waste. It's a blessing..an answered prayer. It was meant for me. I still do pray for the greatest achievement I am wishing for. People close to me knew what I am talking about. I know GOD will sprinkle that blessing to me, in HIS perfect time.

Things to do this Summer

April is almost passing. Have you figured out ways to enjoy Summer?  

Read on...

[Note: You may have done doing some of these tips but it may be worth reading.]

On the beach/resorts..

  Never miss out on bringing fruits and lots of water [to stay hydrated] whenever you go swimming. Fruits like sliced pineapple, apples, banana and watermelon. Help retain your skin's moisture.

  Whenever my family or my friends goes to the beach, I see to it that I have everything in place. Thanks to my checklist! It includes the list of clothes for bathing, changing, essentials until the utensils that should be brought. And oh, a piece of advise. Don't ever forget to bring plastic bags for your wet clothes, leftover foods and trash [as they say, bring your garbage back]. 

  Have your camera batteries charged the night before for planned trip. You wouldn't want to miss out to capture each moment. But if the group makes an on-the-spot decision to go to the beach, bring along its camera charger.  

Outside home..

  Summer is an opportunity for some students to generate income. How?

Get a summer job. Municipalities or some establishments post summer job offering as early as January so if you have plans of making your summer productive, enlist yourself ahead of time and accomplish the required documents.  

If you want to manage your own time and got the skill of tutoring a kid, on gardening, babysitting, pet care and/or food and beverage services, why not advertise your service for a minimal fee? Have your friends or family members be your coordinator.  Spread out your calling cards and posters or use the power of texting.

  

At home..

  While most students feels miserable staying home counting their relatively small amount of money, they are left with no choice but to stay foot. 

Mission Organization. Try to arrange your stuffs. Clothes, shoes, books, CDs, school supplies, essentials. Spare your mom from cleaning your room this time. Believe me, she would even prepare your favorite snack once she sees your room clutter-free.

Check your email. Got an internet connection? Allot some time to check on your emails. Delete those unneeded files, empty your trash box and maximize the space of your inbox. 

Play board games. Give your cellphones and your thumb a time to rest this summer. Call in younger or older siblings and play your family's favorite board game. It's a perfect bonding for the whole family, enjoying life's simple pleasures. 

Movie Marathon. Now is the chance to open your box of movie collections again, whether its a DVD/VCD/VHS tapes. Make a list of movies you want to watch and arrange its cases in order so you'll know what to pick next. Invite your friends to come over and have the popcorn, chips and beverage ready.  

Write.  It may be a song, a poem, a letter or a composition.  Take a look around and find your inspiration.  Sometimes great songs comes in hum-ble beginnings.

Read. Were u given a book as a present? Try to open or continue reading its content since school books is having its vacation.  

Sort. Go over those piles of photocopies you have for the entire school year. Be aware it imposes risk of fire hazards. Separate the copies that stays and goes. Make sure you have the trash bin beside you to conserve time and energy. 

Kitchen companion. It's about time to help Mom in the kitchen. Offer your help and cook meals together. You can also find good recipes online. 

Be an entrepreneur. Invest on something profitable this Summer. What do people want? Something sweet, something cold, something thirst-quenching, something delicious. A lot can be done. You can sell ice candies, ice water, ice, softdrinks, juices or if you have the desire to earn bigger, sell halo-halo. Us at home, we continually sell ice water and ice and it helps us earn a bit, something for the electricity and water bill, while staying at home. Just don't forget to place a sign board outside your gate.

Actually, there are tons of things you can do this "summer" besides strolling to the mall, going out of town, nature tripping or camping. You can even add or make your own list. And remember this, do what makes you happy and enjoy every minute of it so by the time you go back to school this June and your teacher, your friend would ask, you could answer "I had a great summer", with a smile on your face. 

back at GENSAN City

My friend Chem was supposed to go with me at GenSan this morning to file for Certification of our NC II (National Certificate II). But something came up, so I had to travel alone.  I spent almost an hour before I get to ride a bus. My friend Vanessa jested through text, that patience is a virtue.  So there, at 9:40am rode an airconditioned bus. Why aircon when there's a deluxe? What difference does it make? I'm more comfortable with the former than the latter. Besides, its only P10-15 difference and I easily get sweaty. Its all in the genes.

Everything VIOLET

I so love VIOLET.  It started last year when I was looking for a gift  for my sister [Papa asked me to buy one for her manita since I know what she wished for]. Anyways, one bag from all hanging ladies' bags caught my attention. Not actually expensive, but for me, its look was chic. 

It took me a while to decide whether to buy it or not. The saleslady kept on following me as I go on selecting other designs.  Will she like this one?  What if not? Oh no. These questions were running through my head. But, I've made my decision. I am not going...to...let anyone buy that bag but me, hehehe. So, I ask the lady if they have other stocks than the one displayed and she responded the one I am holding is the last one. "Ohhh..", I replied.  She smiled at me then yours truly headed to the paper bags section. 

Is it a Violet day? It started in the Bus Terminal when I saw a Lady in her Violet Shirt.  Saw another one in her Violet flip-flops. Then the girl's cellphone case  in the Eload-ing station is Violet. I actually have Violet nail polish with white tip.  I brought my Violet bag with some of my Violet stuffs including a Violet ballpen.                                                              

When I set foot at Gaisano Mall in GenSan, around 11:25am, I've seen a lot of people wearing Violet. Whenever I look, people are wearing Violet. Shirts, pants, headbands, eyeshadows, crystal bracelets, watches, anything. Any accessories. Don't know about their Andy's [no pun intended].

There, I meet up with Van. We had lunch at SPAZIO. Then strolled for a while and finally, went to TESDA Office.  Filing was a swift. TESDA personnel were accomodating, professional in dealing with people.  Looking forward to get hold of my NC II document. Having one is an achievement for me, in my Education, in my profession.  I'll be back next week.

Van and I went to Mix 'n Magic Snacks and Pastries store to buy pasalubong for Chem. Their cakes are satisfying and delectable.  I just didn't like the way one of its staff stares. She's not customer friendly [rolls eyes].   

Van had to go back to school and I had to go home, thank her for accompanying me. I strolled at KCC Mall to check out some best buys. Last stop was their Supermarket, as in very wide Supermarket with everything-you-need on it. I almost got lost looking for the Chips section. How I wish there's a Mall in Digos with a very, very wide selection of goods including vegetables and fruits for customer's convenience. A one stop all-in-one shop. How's that?

Ok, my dear friends. I won't stay up too late. Have to wake up early and be early in Davao City tomorrow for the continuation of our Assessment in TM-AM. Wish me luck.

long yet productive day

"Home", uttered myself when i stepped on the premises of our place.  I missed everybody, my sister, our dogs, people back home.  As if I was away for days though its just quite a while. 

Our pets were in their houses already but they saw me entered the gate. 

Today is the last day of our 1 week TM-AM Seminar conducted by TESDA. Our Assessment day for the two methodology course, as well. Unfortunately, due to limited Assessors who will supposedly conduct the assessment for the day, only 4 of us were assessed. Three from UM-Matina and me from PITS, each from different trade areas.  Luckily, we all passed. Thank you to Engr. S.C., the person who assessed us. 

When asked to describe how did it go, i said "nerve-wracking". My co-participants patiently waited for their turns but since the time runs in a flash, they cut-off the time. The 2 assessors still has to go back to their work, training another batch of participants for the seminar. I'd say their job is very demanding, but as they say they love what they were doing and its their passion: TEACHING. Thumbs up to them. I admire their dedication. 

We were told the assessment will continue on the 22nd and 23rd at KORPHIL, somewhere in Tibungco. The group decided that we should all meet up infront of the ADDU. Text brigade na lang. I have learned a lot from these people. Was able to find new acquaintance, as well. 

As a photo fanatic, I won't end the day without pictures so our group has remembrance. Ma'am Cheery informed us they would post some videos in YOUTUBE..char! She has brought her Digicam on Day 5. I had all of them signed my manual and was flooded with signatories and contact informations, the future  assessors of TESDA. [chuckles]

Pass 4pm, we all parted ways. Ma'am Anne and I took a tricykad [a bicycle with a side car] hanggang kanto ng Magsaysay, her going to Joji Ilagan and I going to NCCC to meet up with Reina, I shared with her the good news while enjoying our snack. 

My day isn't over yet, I received a text from Lalai inviting me over for a dinner but the message was sent by Romy. So, I replied asking where she was and the occassion they were celebrating. Oh, I see it was a welcome back party of Marianne pala, Lalai's younger sister who worked overseas. 

After buying some home stuffs, we meet up with Ate Shine and Malyn. My friends way back in College. Haven't seen these fellas for a long time. Goodluck sa June NLE!! 

On our way to Ecoland Terminal, tawa kami ng tawa sa jeep. Si Malyn kasi eh, salamat ngapala sa libreng pamasahe ha? hehehe.  Gimingaw jud ko sa akong friends ai. 

Ate shine, reina and I took an airconditioned Holiday Bus going home. Sa pinakadulo kami at don din nilagay ang kahon ng electric fan na binili ni Reina sa NCCC. May pagkakaskasero din ang driver, para kaming nakasakay sa rollercoaster. Murag ning untol na uban pasahero sa kakusog sa iyang padagan ba. 

At one point, kami pud sa likod ning untol na pud apil ang box sa electric fan intawon natabunan kadali ang beauty ni Reina. Yes, mga friendster nadat ugan jud siya. Nakuyawan gud mi ni ate shine. May na lang nasalo namo wala nilahos sa bata na natulog sa ubos namo. Amaw jud nga driver ba, nangatawa na lang gud mi pagkahuman. 

Gisungog pa jud mi sa driver pag naog namo. Pagka na lang jud. Diretso na din ako kina Lalai, where dinner is waiting for me. hehehe.  I hold back for a while outside texting Lalai then went inside. So glad to see Romz. Greeted everybody pati na si Marianne. 

10pm..Thanks for the dinner, lai! Also, I had a good chat with my long time no see friend Romy, a College buddy. Mouli pa gud ni siya ug Padada taz duty pa siya ug 7am ugma. Ingatz kaayo!!

 

11pm..after watching CSI: NY, took a half bath.  How refreshing! 

There, turned on the PC, waited for the display to occur and began tapping the keyboards again relating my experiences the whole day.

1:30am as i check our wall clock. I just yawned. My body wants to rest na, as my mind follows. My eyes closed a bit, it's bye bye time for the meantime, dear friends.

skirting day

My HCS 1-AM students continued with their skills demonstration exam  this morning. Also, we welcomed back some of my students who just had their OJT [On-the Job-Training] at the Temporary Shelter for Sick and Elderly Women. 

After lunch, I was a bit worried I had nobody to split fare going to Annex. Thank God, my classmates went to Main. Our allowance kasi hasn't been released yet. Ahmmm...hello?

Afternoon..

We were taught how to do SKIRTING. I've always been fascinated with the art of table setting. Ma'am Jo demonstrated the basics: Single and Double pleat. She showed us how to fold, measure and pin properly each side of the cloth and make sure it evens out on the side. She made us all try. 

It looks easy but difficult to execute. Be keen in measuring each pleat or else, your work would end up wearisome. But, fullfilling naman when you done few single pleats. I have tried doing the single pleat. Not that easy. It should be contoured. 

The double pleat was interesting, too. Patience is needed. Expect some accidental prickings to happen. Beware of Clostridium tetani [causative agent of Tetanus]. Careful with rusty pins. Might as well use a fingertip protector to prevent it from happening then.

In the midst of folding, concentrating and pinning, one HRM student came inside the classroom looking for his Instructor. At first, he was simply ignored. He looked serious kasi. Wala lang. Unknowingly, he was the Class Clown pala. He stayed for awhile making fun to some of our classmates. He's really funny. He does have a gift. A gift of comedic acts for which he makes everybody laughs, even his Instructors. He never runs out of jokes to crack. He even shared his funny experiences during his OJT at Hotels in Davao and a lot more.

We learned later on he performs every mid and weekends at KOB, Digos City. Don't look for him daw. Kasi he's at the kitchen washing dishes. We all laughed again. 

I've been to comedy bars when I was in Manila. It was fun and a stress-reliever. Matatawa ka talaga sa mga acts nila. I guess it's funnier when it is delivered in Cebuano or Bisaya.

The rest of the time, we were laughing. He's just as spontaneous as those on TV. We'll visit the place to watch him perform one of these days.  

long day and creepy night

It was oral recitation day. Some of the possible questions for their NC 2 exam were being thrown at them and yours truly evaluated how they answer.

After lunch, we were able to hop-in to school's transpo going to Annex. That's a fare-saving treat. Thanks, Ma'am Tisay!! 

Inside the classroom, we were taught of the additional table napkin foldings. Last time was 10 and yesterday, 13 were added to the list. We caught up naman but kinda mahirap ang ibang methods. Ma'am Jona came up with 6 more ways of table napkin foldings. 

Kudos to its creativity! It beautifies the table settings. I love this course na talaga. hehehe.. Afterwards, Ma'am Jo called each student to RD (return demonstration) 20 ways of folding table napkins in 8 minutes and name each one. I thought of demonstrating only those easy and not those complicated ones. Stiill need to learn its step by step procedure. 

When it was my turn, I had a good start and funny middle part. I was nervous by the fact that we were given only 8mins to perform. I did the easy ones first. When I get to the 3rd one, I coudn't execute the BUTTERFLY way so I switch to other method. It ate much of my time trying to figure out my mistake in making the BUTTERFLY. Times rans fast, I had finished 16 ways out of 20 in 8minutes. I know, that's too long for people who were used to do this kind of job. It never occurred to me the PRESIDENTIAL and WAVE method, which were easy-peasy in the last few seconds of my time. We were just starting and learning, that was spontaneous. Taught and should be demonstrated on the same day. 

Ms. Chem was next. She had a smooth demonstration. She finished folding between 6-7mins. Yes, my good friend got it perfectly!! 

After our class, we headed back to school to continue the Skills Demonstration of our students. 

Pass 8pm, Apple and Genalyn were performing the Mobility and Occupied Bedmaking when the former and her patient Ice, heard a girl crying. It scared the heck out of us we all rushed to the door screaming. Imagine the goosebumps, slightly dilated pupils, increased heart rate and blood pressure...nyayy!! Did she really hear someone crying or her imagination was high due to the exhausting RD? We heard some creepy stories then but that was I guess the latest. I don't want to experience one either. We told them to make their work faster so we can all go home. 

We left school around 9pm then headed to Jollibee. Thanks Chem for the treat! Sana laging perfect! hehehe..I now own the 2nd Pucca Perky Collection from Jollibee, courtesy of my good friend Chem. Yehey! 

I'm tired and weary but I'd have to stay alert. Have to take a dose of caffeine. Coffee, anyone? Still have lots of stuffs to do. You know, when school year is about to close, teachers have to face calculators to compute grades. 

judge for a day

A week ago, i received an invitation to be a judge of the forthcoming School's P.E. Day.  Having no experience on judging, I was hesitant to accept but since I was encouraged and convinced by my amega [termed to "a friend"], i gladly accepted the offer [chuckles]. 

9am - I arrived at the venue. I was informed kasi the event will start at this time. I was able to meet Kag. Jojo, who happens to be the other jury.  We had a short chikka. 

Pass 10 na nag start ang program. Mr. Jopet  introduced the panel of judges starting off with me. Char, "This is the feeling pala", i uttered to myself. 

Thank you amega for the experience!! I have gained new acquiantance..Sir Don, Sir Jojo and Sir Bandy.  

Bought the first of the 3 PUCCA collectibles at Jollibee. I love it!! Thank you, Ate Gracey for informing me. Love you!!! Kisses to shane. 

I went home, kinda late. Went back kasi to HH to meet up with the students whom are going to have their Hospital Exposure at DDH starting this Monday for 2weeks. I brought Ma'am Lyn, her son Mikey and Patzs to OC for a merienda treat. 

on thoughtfulness

This morning, after evaluating each performance of my students in their return demonstration, I asked those who were outside to come in for some announcements.   I was kinda annoyed they won't come in as called, which made my voice raised.  They all came inside and was surprised to hear  a chorus "Belated Happy Birthday Miss!!". And again surprised with the gift bag on top of my table. They all stared at me, I guess waiting for any violent reaction [hehehe]. uhhhh...how sweet, how thoughtful. They all requested to open the gift [was excited also of the content..hekhek]. They gave me this long or hotdog pillow with cartoon prints from the movie 101 Dalmatians. They knew kasi I'm a pet lover. Aside from  that, they gave me a photo album [part of my wish is granted]. My gazillion photographs is yet to be arranged. I thank them all for the gift. I appreciate the effort. As a funny gesture, I gave them all a flying kiss. We all laughed. Then pronounced their dismissal. 

I'd like to greet my Auntie Gemma a HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! God Bless you good health and your family. More years to come and more life to your years. God Bless, always!!

my voice is back!

rejoice for my voice has regained its normal state. God loved me. He gave me a wonderful sunday to cheer. Thank you for the gift. Salabat is really effective!

oh yeah, i can now sing. i can now vocalize la la la la la...hahaha!  people cannot make fun of me anymore.  Its kinda annoying sometimes.  Kamo daw beh. It's not funny. I simply ignore them, yet irritating.  Hence, they would received a raised eyebrow for doing that. 

I still drink salabat despite its awful [for me] taste and sweet-bitter taste.

We started the oral interview. Chem left early while Essa and I continued on conversing the 2nd year individually.  We evaluated how they answer to each question and gave them tips on how to converse with their Assessor properly. 

Essa reminded them to be conscious with the time during the interview.  We mentioned some pointers and then pronounced dismissal. Phew! Another meeting has ended.

Gen and Pi invited us to go and eat at a Pizza parlor near Mary Mediatrix Church. We had Sisig and Pepperoni Pizza. We chatted for the time being until we came to talk about my upcoming birthday. We planned to go to Camp Sabros to enjoy the enchanting view of Mountains and Adventure of its rides. Their first time, my second. Can't wait.

The food trip was awesome. So full. Thank Gen and Pi for the treat. These girls does love to eat a lot! [chuckles]

still hoarse

I'm happy to wake up this morning with a slight voice. I took a sip of hot salabat, still hoping to soothe my throat. We are to meet up with the HCS graduating students this afternoon for their Final Coaching in the upcoming NC 2 exam. 

Hope all of them passed! Anyways, the Provincial Director had an ocular inspection on the Funda Lab. The result was good, but still need to be seen by the Assessor from Davao Oriental for our School to be an Accredited Assessment Center for Health Care Services.

husky voice

I woke up this morning with no voice. All you'd hear from me is an on and off voice, more like a defective speaker [chuckles]. I still went to school, met up with my students. They were shocked when I spoke.

8:30am Luckily, TESDA people from Region XI will come to visit our School and conduct the orientation for the TESDA Scholarship Programs at ANNEX, to start in an hour.

I collected assignments from my students and dismissed them early, since this blogger enrolled in a Scholarship Program in Food and Beverage Services NC 2, with Chem and Jopay.

We set-up the whole Funda Lab for ocular inspection by the TESDA Provincial Director.

For the meantime, we stayed inside the Funda Lab. Ma'am Julie of Rudy's Art Photography came by to hand-in the pictures during our 2nd Pinning Ceremony. Gwapa jud ming tanan oi! We will make sure our documentation will be as fabulous as the event, so those people who have little understanding on the significane of the event will realize that 2-year courses does have a ceremony like that of a 4-year Bachelor courses. Thank you, Ma'am Julie!

10am Chem and I hopped in to Gene's car going to ANNEX. When we got there, few enrollees participated in the orientation. Some went home na daw.

Engr. Nestor S. Tabada, Provincial Director - Davao City/Davao del Sur explained the duties and responsibilities as a TESDA Scholar and pointed out some reminders. The orientation didn't last long. After the short speech, we were called to sign the Scholarship Vouchers by Mrs. Panuela, FASD Chief of Finance and Administrative Services Division, Davao del Sur and submitted our photos. That's it! We are now TESDA Scholars! I'm excited..when will be our first day? hehehe

Going back to school this afternoon, I met up with the 2nd year students and taught some tips on their upcoming NC 2 exam despite the hoarseness of my voice. They were mimicking me pa nga eh. I still tried to teach them.

Afterwards, we leaved school going to Warehouse to stroll around and buy some goods.

4:40pm We were done paying at the Counter and I felt my feet started complaining. Yeah, Pucca is tired na..Gikapoy na akong beauty.

5pm I came home tired, hungry, carrying loads of folders with a bag of some grocery items. Was happy to see our dogs, wagging their tails trying to relieve my tiredness. I just love them so much. I never got to buy salabat [pulverized Philippine version for ginger tea] =( Wala ng stock.

By the way, bought a new mug, nice design! Baptized its use in trying Ji**s Choco 5 in 1 Mix with Agaricus Mushroom Extract Plus Spirulina. I surely include this always on my To-buy list when going to the Grocery. I love the taste, creamy and healthy as well. Can be served hot or cold.

6pm I was watching TV when I suddenly remembered my dues at Herbito's. I changed clothes in a snap and left home. Yes, still in my hoarse voice, umalis pa rin ako. I couldn't ask my sister naman to pay it. Ate ping and company was surprised to hear me. I even headed to the market to buy vegetables and look for salabat. I really had to. Imagine how I deal with the sellers and tricycle driver. =) hahaha..they always give me a second look. hehehe..

When i got home, I immediately tried the salabat I bought. Wow, i felt the soothing effect in my throat. I hope I'd wake up tomorrow, with a normal voice na.

Day 1 - Batch 3

I arrived at school surprised to see the beds being fixed. Finally, they installed side rails on each bed. Students wouldn't forget raising them during their practice in bed making.  

They made up a linen and garbage trolley. Good. No assuming will take place.  All actual skills will be implemented. Good for the student-reviewee.  We do hope they all passed this HCS NC 2 exam by TESDA. 

While waiting for the beds, we sticked-on art papers on each garbage bin according to its prescribed color.  Chem began the review with Handling waste in an Environment.  Then, each of them gets to try on wearing PPEs [personal protective equipments] and go on from segregating to storing of waste.  

Its morning and my day is  getting annoyed by this particular student who seems to know-it-all. As if she knows everything. I just don't like her attitude. I observed as they were doing the folding of each linen, she blames her mistakes to her classmates and has this histrionic type of personality. Grrr...I shifted monitoring instead the works of another group in their bedmaking.  I can't bear to see her.  My patience is holding me back.

Transport and Mobility followed and some of them are still 'blank page' when a situation is applied.  Right hemiplegia or Left hemiplegia. 

New bags

Essa, Chem and I went to HP to check on the bag that we were rooting for the past weeks. We looked around and was captured by the sleek design and brightly colored cushioned bags with a heart-shaped stitches.  Thought of buying the same design but in different colors. Talk about the sisterhood of stylish bags..hehehe...

Chem picked the violet one, Essa chose the red one and I was left undecided whether to choose the white or a yellow one.  They were shouldering the bags when Chem decided to change her chosen color to green. I was happy Violet is now available.  I picked it up and asked Chem if she might change her decision.  She won't na daw and settle for the Green.  I checked the stitches before going to the counter. I am now a proud owner of a violet bag.

I'm tired. Need to catch some sleep. Goodnight, everyone!

HCS program celebrates 2nd Pinning & Candle Lighting Ceremonies

DIGOS CITY (February 27) -- Forty two Health Care Services students participated in the second Pinning and Candle lighting ceremony of the Philippine International Technological School held at the Pearl Center, Digos City on February 27, 2009.

A thanksgiving mass by Rev. Fr. Cornelio B. Toraja, DCD at the Mary Mediatrix of all Graces Church. Extended his warm greetings to the newly blessed batch of Candidates for being a participant of the remarkable event. Ceremony followed at Pearl Center.

Guest speaker Mr. Patrick G. Poculan, RN discussed the role of Health Care Assistants. He stressed that the health care providers are a vital part of the health care team. Mr. Poculan explained further the importance of the Nursing Aides in rendering care to patients, "You are the direct care workers due to your role in working with patients, having to spend more contacts with them than do other members of the staff. Thus, nursing aides are the principal caregivers of the main clients of health sector. You do most of the hands-ons procedures."

A registered nurse, Mr. Poculan is presently a Nurse Volunteer at Medical Center of Digos Cooperative. An NCLEX and IELTS passer, he is also a certified Caregiver, holder of the National Certificate Level II by the Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA).

He added that "You give comfort to clients after working with them, because you have the hands of a considerate and empathetic skilled worker. Because you spend more time with patients, you develop ongoing relationships with them and interact with them in a positive, caring way."

Mr. Poculan urged the participants to be proud and work along the team with dignity, bringing along with you your stock knowledge, and preparedness to handle situations with your mastery in skills. Be tactful, patient, understanding, emotionally stable and you should have a strong desire to help people.

"You are part of the health care team; you should be able to work as a part of the team", he ended.

The ceremony was then followed by the recessional for which everybody shared sumptous meals prepared by the Catering service of the venue.

It was a successful event. To the newly blessed batch of candidates, remember that those pins were rewarded to acknowledge your commitment, skills, dedication and love for work. Till next time, on the 3rd Pinning ceremony.
